The Eternal Embrace

on

She could barely lift the pen as she struggled for breath.  It was a contract.  One that was worth a thousand times more than anything she had ever signed in the past.  This one, allowed hospice to perform one final act which, would solidify her love for those she was leaving behind.

The contract outlined the details of a special piece of fabric that would be woven into the center of a blanket.  The blanket’s  purpose was to allow whoever covered their body with it, to feel as though they were being embraced by her very own arms.

It wasn’t just a gesture either; it was the intention, the energy, and the love behind the thought of transcending from flesh, to fabric, that gave this gift so much meaning.

With this final deed complete, she could now pass with a full, peaceful, heart.

Four weeks after her funeral, the package arrived in the mail.  It was the blanket with a patch sewn into its center.  Upon the patch, were her final words eternally embroidered upon its surface.

“I love you.”

Oh my. And isn’t that what we all may desire when it is our time to leave our bodies….
That was a heart and soul felt 1 minute. And it will leave a long lasting imprint after reading it.
    Thank you.

      Adam,

This one minute story was SO MOVING……..I would like to do something for whatever is left of my family before I transcend the “veil.”…..it gives me ideas…..

I’m so glad to hear that Linda, thank you.

Thank you Wendi. What I didn’t mention in the story, is that Jen lost her Mom last April, and we’ve been sleeping on her blanket every since. The idea came to me one day when I realized it was like being “hugged by her”, as we slept.

I think that it’s important that we do, all leave something behind to those we love. Something with intention, not just out of a will, or by chance.

      Thank you for recognizing that.

Adam – loved it. I was just talking to my Geranium plant today & thought of my aunt. I took part of her plant she had in her garden after her passing. I also found baby blanket knit by relative a day ago. However I love your idea of actually feeling the embrace of our passed loved ones. From now on I will spend more time thinking of them when I am wearing clothing, touching their plants, seeing their photo…. Thank you.

That’s so very cool Lynn! I believe plants are so much more than we see them as. I have other stories coming that involve them, so I find it ironic you’re bring that up.

And yes, photos, clothing, furniture, the list can go on and on. I really love this idea and would love it more to create a business out of it. But the Tessera work must come first. This is why I shared the idea here, in a story.

Also, make sure you read my replies above. I gave a little more detail on the blanket. 🙂

That is all there is …. Love
My darling Mom whispered this to us “I Love You, I Love You, I Love You” – a sense of enormous importance and Knowing in these three words, spoken in sets of three.

I hear my Mom’s voice still saying this to us, and I whisper back – “I Love You, I Love You, I Love You”.

Passing is the greatest gift when the one we Love leaves this as their legacy.
    I miss you my Mommy x x x

lil tears… lots and lots of lil tears! The story and the comments bring the lil tears that are feelings so far beyond words. Thank you for this beautiful expression and reminder.!

Just a week ago, I sat around a table with new friends who were remarking on the amazing impact this simple but overwhelmingly powerful emotion has. The meal was prepared with love and the intention and expectation of friendship and supporting purpose for the meeting to follow. Simple ingredients that normally would not make such an impact. Everyone “felt” the circle and the fellowship we shared was incredible as we all remarked as we went our separate ways.

Love can do so much in this physical world with so many limitations of perception and understanding. One can only imagine the limitless power and possibility it must have when released in the spiritual realm unbounded by the physical.

    “I love you!”
