The Most Important Harvest

on

The point of distractions in our lives has reached an all time high.

Novelty, success, self preservation.

There’s not doubt that our heads are filled with a million choices every day because of the world in which we live.

However, the true dilemma lies in the fact that we believe many (if not all of those distractions) are obligations.

They’re not.

You don’t need to learn marketing to care about your members/audience/customers.

You don’t need to spend thousands (or hundreds of thousands) of dollars on a college education in order to land a job that will make you happy and serve others.

And (don’t light your torches or sharpen your pitch forks yet) (gulp) but you don’t have to give to charity all the time either.

If you can’t take care of yourself, you won’t be able to take care of anyone else.

My point is this.

We have one chance to create a person worthy of fabricating favorable outcomes.

Yes, I’m talking about you.

Today I was given an opportunity to make a lot of money.  Potentially tens of thousands of dollars in a very short period of time.

As of right now with my financial situation, I’ve been better so it certainly had my attention.

However, there is a yearning within me to finish what I have started and knowing that if I took that opportunity, my true work would be put on hold.

You see, I want to build Inner Eden to be a safe haven and resource for us.

I want to finish the story The Road Before You.

I want to finally allow Tessera the explanation and quality of my time it deserves, so that people like you yourself, can enjoy its lessons and adventures.

However, if I were to take time away from those things, my happiness would decline as well as my productivity.

Yes, I know how to make money, a lot of it.

I could be successful at anything I set my mind to if I wished.

But, you’re reading this right now because I have chosen not to allow distraction to hinder what’s truly important.

To me, THIS is success.

I have the opportunity to share my feelings, my perspectives, and my breakthroughs.

And no, not everyone cares, but those of you who do share my voice.

So, because of my choices I get to share with you the following story that supports those choices.

A few hours ago I decided I wanted home made tabbouleh for dinner.

I can make it myself, but my wife can do it better.

After all, she taught me.

With the intention of a tasty meal, I decided to go to the store to get parsley, mint, and a few other ingredients that we didn’t already have on hand.

After failing at two different grocery stories to find good mint, it occurred to me.

“Wait, we have a whole garden full of this stuff!”

I called Jen and asked if any of the mint outside was still good after the freezing temps and snow we had last week.

Long story short, yes.

When I got home she handed me a colander and sent me out to harvest the mint.

The picture you see above (she tells me you need to see more pics of me too, even if it’s just my hands. 😉 is what I harvested from our garden for the tabbouleh.

Here’s the moral of the story.

We began a garden this year that we have not completely harvested.

And trust me, we’ve harvested a lot and I’ve had many incredible meals from that garden.

But, we did not harvest it all as you can imagine, we got busy with other things.

So today I continue to harvest what I have sown with Inner Eden so that tomorrow, you and I can reap the benefits of its lessons and gifts.

And because of that, tonight, I can have tabbouleh.
