Why Mindset Doesn’t Work

on

I’ve been following a thread on a website that has several “qualified” individuals answering a single question.

“What is the most powerful tip you’ve gained from reading a self-help book?”

I’ve read over 50 answers so far, but there’s been a main theme I’ve noticed within each of those answers.

Mindset.

As you know, I’m about to release Oracle which, is a four part series of explorations into creating the Second Self.

But Oracle isn’t about mindset. However, in respect for the obvious, it kind of is.

What I mean, is that it’s not about working to fix your current mindset, it’s about re-creating a new one from scratch.

This makes things MUCH easier for two reasons.

  1. You’re not allowing your current story to produce emotional resistance which, will sabotage a good intention before it even has time to come to fruition.
  2. Your’e not diving into your past which, is covered with bias, false assumptions, and well, a lot work we don’t really want, or need, to explore.

None of us want, nor will, do the work required in order to change old beliefs.  It’s just too hard.

And to be completely candid, not much fun.

What’s fun, is creation.

There’s no resistance in creation.

Plus, creation provides magnified perspectives for the purpose of all life.

Experience.

Let me show you the difference.

Here’s a mindset exercise that delves into YOU and your story.

A. Think of a time in your life when you were happy.  Think of everything about it, the sky, the sounds in your environment, and the people that were with you that day, etc.

Now, re-live that moment for as long as you can.

3 … 2… 1… Fail…..

This only works temporarily because going back into an old memory, no matter how wonderful, still keeps your story at the center of that experience.

Simply put, it places the focus upon you.

This also means that you will wind up coming back to your present reality, no matter how hard you try to change (or re-live) the past.

This second example is mindset through creation.

B. When we are upset, our feelings can cause us to be depressed and physically fatigued.  We cry, tears roll down our faces, and we don’t like the feelings so we resit them.

Now, the truth of all of this, is the fact that these “feelings” are nothing more than chemicals in the brain reacting to its environment.

This is why the environment we find ourselves most comfortable in (at home with people we love per say) are the ones we are most emotionally vulnerable in.

If this environment is disrupted, (death of a loved one, finances run low, we have a fight, etc.) then the chemicals within our brains, produce the reactions within our bodies. (Tears, rapid heartbeat, suffering, and even depression.)

How Creation (Mindset of the Second Self) Solves This

You are not your body.  You are not the chemicals in the brain, and you are not your environment.

You are all of these things.

By becoming everything at once, you are not looking into your past.

You are experiencing your present.

If I were then to ask you to become the walls, the sounds, the people around you, and even the air, this would put you into a state of creation.

This awareness is what I call Adaptive Contemplative Reasoning.  In short, it turns on the mechanisms of absolute awareness, as well as creative expression, at the same time.

However.

You need to learn how to become the walls/environment/etc, while maintaining the perspective of the body, simultaneously.

I know this sounds complicated, but it’s not.  In fact, it’s 1000% easier than diving into your past in order to maintain a proper mindset.

So why do we keep diving into our past then?

Because we hate uncertainty.

If we look into our past, there’s no uncertainty.  We may remember that beautiful day, but we cannot maintain it, simply because our current state of awareness has changed.

The trick, is to CONSTANTLY change that current state of awareness, (Adaptive Contemplative Reasoning is the tool that supports this.) then live within that present moment.

THIS is the difference between our current story and the Second Self.

I will share more about this with Oracle on Friday.
